Learn about the one-on-one chat feature with creators.
What Is Chat?
A feature that lets you exchange messages directly with creators. You can use it to send questions, feedback, and anything else you'd like to tell a creator.
Requirements for Using Chat
To use the chat feature, you need to be subscribed to a creator's chat-enabled plan.
On the creator's profile page, plans marked "Chat Available" will give you access to chat with that creator once subscribed.
How to Start a Chat
- Open the profile page of the creator you want to message
- Tap the "Chat" button
- Type your message. You can attach images if you like (up to 4 per message, up to 10 MB each, JPEG / PNG / WebP)
- Tap the send button
You can always view your sent messages from the "Conversations" page.
Tip Messages
When you send a tip to a creator, the tip amount and message are automatically posted to the conversation. Tip messages are shown in the conversation even if you are not subscribed to a chat-enabled plan.
However, sending regular text messages still requires a chat-enabled plan subscription.
Messages When Joining a Plan
When you join a plan, a system message "You've joined the plan!" is automatically posted in the conversation. If the creator has set up a custom welcome message, it appears next. For chat-enabled plans, an additional "Chat is now available!" message is also posted.
Organizing Conversations
Pin
To make sure important conversations don't get buried, you can pin them. Pinned conversations appear at the top of the list.
From the chat menu (⋯), tap "Pin" to pin a conversation. Tap "Unpin" to remove it.
Archive
You can archive conversations you don't plan to use for a while to hide them from the main list.
- Tap "Archive" from the chat menu (⋯)
- Archived conversations can be viewed and unarchived from the "Archived" tab on the "Conversations" page
- An archived conversation is automatically unarchived when you send a new message in it. When a new message arrives from the other person, it is not automatically unarchived — open it from "Archived" and unarchive manually if needed
Read Receipts
Once the recipient has viewed a message you sent, "Read" appears below the message.
Deleting Messages
You can only delete messages you sent yourself. Tap the trash icon at the bottom right of your message to open the confirmation dialog.
- Only your own messages can be deleted. You cannot delete the other person's messages.
- After deletion, the other person will also see "This message has been deleted", and the content and attached images become unviewable.
- Tip and plan-join system messages are kept as transaction records and cannot be deleted.
If You Cancel Your Plan
Even after canceling your plan, you can still send messages until the end of your paid period. After the period ends, you won't be able to send messages, but you can still view your past chat history.
You can resume chatting by subscribing to a chat-enabled plan again.
Messages from SMFans
Replies to your inquiries and important announcements may be sent via chat from the official SMFans account.
You can check messages from SMFans by opening the "Conversations" page.
Chat Privacy
Chat messages can only be seen by the sender and the recipient.
However, SMFans may review message content in the following cases:
- When a report is filed
- When legally required by a disclosure order
- When moderation (content review) is necessary under the Terms of Service
Chat When an Account Is Deleted
If You Delete Your Account
- Messages you sent are immediately deleted upon account deletion
- You cannot view or restore your chat history after deletion
If Your Chat Partner Deletes Their Account
- Sending new messages is no longer possible (a note indicating that the other user has withdrawn or been suspended is displayed)
- Their messages are immediately deleted upon their account deletion
