Plan Management
Here's how to create, edit, and manage your monthly plans.
Creating a Plan
To create a monthly plan, follow these steps:
- Open the "Creator Dashboard"
- Tap "Plan Management"
- Tap the "+" button
- Fill in the plan settings
- Tap "Create"
Plan Settings
| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| Plan Name | The name of the plan (e.g., Standard Plan, Premium Plan). Up to 100 characters |
| Monthly Price | Set between 0 yen and 50,000 yen |
| Description | Description of the plan's perks and content. Up to 1,000 characters |
| Welcome Message | Optional text included in the automatic message sent when a fan subscribes. Up to 1,000 characters. When set, it is appended to the fixed "Joined the plan!" greeting message |
| Chat Feature | Whether subscribers to this plan can chat with you |
| Back Issues | Settings for how past posts are accessed (see details below) |
Setting the monthly price to 0 yen creates a free plan. Use it as a trial or introductory plan.
You can create up to 5 plans.
Editing a Plan
You can edit all fields of a created plan at any time.
- Select the plan you want to edit from "Plan Management"
- Tap "Edit"
- Modify the desired fields
- Tap "Save"
When you change a plan's price, the new price applies only to users who newly subscribe or re-subscribe. Existing subscribers continue to be charged the price they joined at, so the price change has no impact on them.
Example: If you change a 1,500 JPY plan to 2,000 JPY, existing subscribers continue to be charged 1,500 JPY, while new subscribers pay 2,000 JPY.
Deleting a Plan
You can delete plans you no longer need.
- Select the plan you want to delete from "Plan Management"
- Tap "Delete"
- Tap "Delete" on the confirmation screen
The deleted plan will be removed from the plan list.
If you delete a plan that has subscribers, those subscribers will be automatically unsubscribed at their next renewal. We strongly recommend notifying your subscribers before deleting a plan.
Setting a "Featured" Plan
You can set one of your plans as "Featured". The featured plan is prominently displayed on your profile page, making it easier for new fans to subscribe.
- Select the plan you want to feature from "Plan Management"
- Tap "Set as Featured"
Back Issue Settings
For each plan, you can configure how past posts are accessed. This setting significantly affects the fan experience, so please choose carefully.
Back Issues "Disabled" (Default)
Subscribers can freely view all past posts (all-access). However, if they cancel the plan, all access is lost.
- Subscribers enjoy all past posts simply by being subscribed
- Canceling the plan means losing access to all posts, including past ones
Back Issues "Enabled"
Past posts require individual monthly purchases. Fans select and purchase the months they want to view.
- Only posts from purchased months are viewable
- Once a month's posts are purchased, they remain permanently viewable even after plan cancellation
- Fans can purchase only the months they're interested in, making it easier to try out
Back Issue Pricing
You can set a custom price for back issues. If not specified, the price defaults to the plan's monthly fee.
- Content that accumulates over time (illustration collections, lesson videos, etc.) > Back Issues "Enabled" is recommended. Fans can purchase only the months they need, and their purchases are permanent.
- Time-sensitive content (updates, live streams, etc.) > Back Issues "Disabled" is recommended. Subscribers can enjoy all content, including past posts, while subscribed.
Bundle Settings
Set up bundle options (3 / 6 / 12-month subscriptions) for your plans to offer fans discounted long-term subscriptions.
How to Set Up
- Select the target plan from "Plan Management" (can also be set when creating a new plan)
- In the "Bundle Settings" section, select the durations you want to offer (3 / 6 / 12 months)
- Set a discount rate (1-99%) for each duration
- Tap "Save"
Bundles cannot be set for plans with a 0 yen monthly price.
Note About Discount Rate Changes
When you change a bundle's discount rate, existing bundle subscribers will continue to receive their original discount rate. The updated rate only applies to new bundle subscriptions.
Setting a Recommended Bundle
Among the bundle durations (3 / 6 / 12 months), you can mark one as "Recommended". The recommended bundle is highlighted on the plan selection screen for fans. Only one recommended bundle can be set per plan.
Revenue Recognition
Revenue from bundle subscriptions is recognized in full at once (not prorated monthly).
When a Subscriber Cancels
When a subscriber cancels a monthly plan:
- They can still view content until the end of their paid period
- Access is revoked after the period ends
- No prorated refunds are provided
When a Subscriber's Payment Fails
If a subscriber's wallet balance is insufficient at renewal time and the registered auto top-up also fails:
- The subscriber receives a "Payment Failed" notification
- The plan immediately enters the "renewal failed (failed)" state, and content access is suspended
- Automatic retries are not performed. The subscriber must verify their payment method and tap "Rejoin" from "Active Plans" to manually re-subscribe (a new billing period starts from the moment of rejoining)
Note: Since SMFans requires auto top-up to be set up at the time of subscribing to a monthly plan, payment failures are typically due to external factors such as an expired card or a Stripe / PayPal outage.
About Fees
All revenue is added to your "payout balance" in full. The fan club fee is deducted at the time of payout request.
Fee Breakdown
The following fees are deducted when you request a payout:
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Fan Club Fee | 15% of your revenue |
| Transfer Fee | Varies by account type (domestic/international) |
Fee details can be viewed in "Creator Dashboard" > "Payout Management".
